The month of November was full of fun and new milestones.
Sissy came out to visit and be here Rawley's first Thanksgiving. The very first morning she was here, he was not a happy camper! But after 5 minutes, Rawley was all about sissy all the time.
We had such a wonderful Thanksgiving! The four of us started the day walking the local Turkey Trot. We picked up some pies before heading over to Aunt Megan's house to start the festivities. Aunt Megan hosted it at her house this year and she did such a great job! We all had fun turkey hats she made while we ate and all had to wear our jammies over too. It was fun and relaxing.
Rawley went to his first Zoo Lights experience the day after Thanksgiving. Needless to say he was NOT in good spirits. He was super cranky, cried and fussed the majority of the time since it was bed time. There was so much going on around him that he couldn't just fall asleep in the car, but he sure fell asleep the moment we were done and got in the car!
Our friends from Denver were in town visiting family for Thanksgiving and they were so gracious to make the trip to our house to visit. They brought their adorable little boy Henry over who is only a few months younger than Rawley. He was such a bully and just grabbed his face and the toys from him so Henry cried when Rawley was around :( Looks like mommy needs to get Rawley around other kids more often
We rounded out the month digesting all that food and getting the house ready for Christmas. Rawley loved the tree lights while I was putting them on the tree, maybe a little too much. That boy is into everything now! Dad helped Rawley hide the pickle in the tree so we can find it on Christmas Day!
At his 8 month mark Rawley..
- has two teeth now (both bottom front teeth)
- is crawling everywhere now. Although he gets frustrated sometimes when he can't move fast enough, but we have now put outlet protectors in every outlet in this house.
- is even trying to stand from the seated position. It's crazy. He will go and stand on all fours or stand like a gorilla would walk around (apparently, sissy did this too as a baby).
- pulls himself up. He will crawl to things and pull himself up or he will pull himself up in his crib. We have now put his crib to the lowest position so he doesn't fall out. I went in to get him from his nap and he was full on standing! I feel that now that his crib is lower that he is laying on a cot with rails. It's so low to the ground I kinda feel bad :(
- is all about his wiener! Sorry if that offends anyone, but it's funny. During bath time he is all about it, during a diaper change he is all about it. It's like a magnet to his hands. I can't believe it starts this early!
- will still babble mamma, dadda and babba. Not sure if he is making the association of those things yet though.
- hates eating purees now. He will maybe take a few bites if we feed him with the spoon and then will refuse to eat anymore by shaking his head from side to side or just flat out ignoring the spoon by bending over the side of his booster. It makes mealtime fun so we have decided to try Baby Lead Weaning and doing a cross between that and battling with purees. Mamma is too scared he will choke on the food. We have given him pieces of veggies to eat, apple wedges and bits of whatever we are eating if we are out at restaurants.
- still loves his veggies, but not fruits. It seems the only way he will eat fruit is if I mix it with his oatmeal in the mornings. He also LOVES puffs. He would eat a solid meal of puffs and be perfectly happy.
- is a very smiley and happy little boy. He is always laughing, cooing with excitement and loves to smile at everyone.
- eyes are still very blue!
- is still taking 2 - 1.5 - 3 hour naps a day. His bedtime is at 8pm and will wake up anywhere between 6 - 7am. He will sometimes get up once in the middle of the night, but that is few and far between anymore. Somehow mommy is still tired...
- favorite toys are: extension cords (he always crawls directly to them and starts to yank on them before we grab it out of his hands), his blue sensory ball,
- favorite books are: Goodnight Hawaii and Find The Frog...still. We read this every single night before bed.
- is wearing 9 month jammies and onsies, but I really should start putting him in 12 months now. He is also wearing 6 month pants still, but I need to put him in 9 since the 6 months are so short on his legs. Still wearing size 3 diapers and size 1 shoes.
- is still eating about 7 ounces of formula every 4 hours. Although, lately it's been a struggle for him to finish his bottles. I don't know if we need to up his reflux medicine or if it's just because he is occupied doing other things.
Rawley is a silly boy and it's just been getting more fun as the months go by!
