oh wait...didn't it seem like i just posted rawley's 17 month update???? yeah, i'm quite the slacker these past few months but if i didn't post this update now i never will because by the time i do his 19 month post i will have another little dude in tow and i'm sure my world is going to be flipped upside down for a while ;0) oh, and by the way there will be no pictures in this post :( i didn't take ANY this month with my big girl camera. i feel horrible about it actually.
here we are at 18 months...a year and half old! that sounds so weird to me to say. my baby is halfway to two years old and it feels so bittersweet.
this month has brought on both a lot of new frustrations, but also so much new adventure and laughs all at the same time. it may not help things on my part since i'm 9 months pregnant and it's been a little hard to get around and chase him at the speed he wants. he runs everywhere and it's just so funny because his little legs are going at the speed of light but his little body is just bouncing as he is doing it. super cute!
rawley is still a stubborn little fella and will not do anything on command. he isn't really using his words although he can say they usual please, hi, bye, mamma, dad, ice, etc, but he really doesn't say them all the time like he should. his new thing though is saying "ah, man"! it's pretty cute :0) i can't wait to have conversations with him with his 2 year old mind. that's the funny part that i just love. i sound like a broken record all day saying what things are, saying what sounds animals say, pointing out colors and explaining everything i do but he just isn't having it. he acknowledges and knows what to do or get anytime we ask him {for instance, let's go na-night or change our diaper and he will run to his room}. so he gets it, but just not saying it. his new thing whenever it's time for bed is to run in the corner and pretend that he can't see us. maybe he thinks if he can't see us he doesn't have to go to bed. yeah right! ;0) he tries to put his shoes and clothes on by himself, he loves when i count to him, has been extra mischievous by learning how to open the doors while pulling down the door handles and will stand there forever and open and close the doors. he will often slam the door shut while playing in his room and will just hang out in there and read some books in his new reading corner we made for him.
his sleeping has been a bit wonky lately and i'm not sure why. he will still go to bed anytime between 7-7:30 and will wake up between 6-6:30 which is nice, but he will sometimes wake up in the middle of the night crying for whatever reason and then fall back to sleep after i go in there to comfort him. he is notorious for taking about a 3 hour nap everyday, but lately he has been taking 2 hour naps...sometimes less. that scares me, especially since the new little dude will be here before we know it. he is still in size 4 diapers since my box still hasn't run out, but he hasn't leaked at all since last month so maybe we are still ok with the 4's for now. he has moved up to size 5 shoes and 18 month shirts, but still in 12 month shorts that are a bit too big for him still. i just bought 18 month pants for him for winter, but scared they will not fit. eek! At his 18 month appointment he weighs in at a whopping 21 pounds and 32 inches long. He is a little pip squeek for sure, but Dr. Jackson does not seem to be worried in the least. He is growing and that is all that matters :0)
i do have some good news on the tv front! he still loves yo gabba! gabba!, but has moved on to loving the bubble guppies. he enjoys it and i love that they always say please, thank you and pardon me throughout the show. it's the little things, right? ;0) sadly, the past few weeks i have resorted to a lot of tv for him since my energy level is gone now, but that will change once this little dude gets here so i am able to give rawley the attention he deserves. we go and play everyday outside for hours a couple times a day so he can play with his water table and little pool. he loves it. i try to take him to the park now that it's somewhat decent outside {like in the 80's at 8 in the morning} and he really wants nothing to do with it. he loves to play in the sand and just pour sand out of his hands for hours, but the slides and stuff really don't interest him yet. he is a very selective little dude.
his "toddler-ness" has really started to shine through these past couple months, but this kid brings me so much joy. i love him so much, i really could squeeze him to pieces all day long. he is pretty awesome and so much fun, i can't wait to see the progress he makes in the upcoming months...especially with a new little brother hanging around. ;0)
