dawson is five months.

i feel like dawson has really changed a lot this month.  he seems like such a legit baby right now, like totally doing things rather than just lying there.  it's getting pretty fun!

dawson is currently loving his exersaucer.  it's kind of nice at the moment to be able to just stick him in there in the mornings while i make rawley and i breakfast.  it's so cute when he is in there because he just smiles and bats at everything around him {he also tries to eat everything around him to}.  he loves to think he is at rawley's level and it makes him laugh, squeal and smile while rawley roams around him.  this month they had their first interaction with each other that consisted of rawley laughing and screaming and then dawson would laugh in response to it.  it then had rawley doing it again and they were going at it for a few minutes.  i just about cried.

this month i officially weaned dawson from breastfeeding.  while i am so grateful that i was able to make it this long, dawson just never seemed satisfied after i fed him and he was still eating every two hours for almost an hour.  it wasn't fair to everyone in this house and i felt like i was deserting rawley all day while i went to feed dawson...again.  i found rawley was sitting in front of the tv way too much and i just didn't want that anymore. 

since being 100% on formula, he has been completely satisfied after his feedings and is now on a 4 hour schedule.  he eats 7 ounces, 4 times a day while finally taking a one hour nap in the mornings and a two hour nap in the afternoon.  far cry from where we were last month!  he just seems much happier now.

 

we have attempted giving him oatmeal this month because we felt that he wasn't satisfied with my breastmilk.  the first time we gave it to him, he absolutely loved it!  i tried to give him more at breakfast time days later and he just didn't seem to care for it so we haven't given it to him since.  we will see how he does when he starts solids in the next couple of months.

speaking of happier, i'm thinking his fussiness and sleepless days/nights were due to the fact he popped his bottom front teeth!  both teeth seemed to come in overnight.  absolute craziness!  rawley didn't get his teeth until 6 months so i really wasn't expecting this to happen so soon, but i do have to say he looks so adorable with them :0)

dawson is starting to get quite the personality now and i'm loving it!  is squishiness and killer smiles just melt me every day.
