Seriously, can this even be true? It seems like yesterday we found out we were even pregnant with this little guy. It's seriously cliche, but it truly goes by FAST.
Rawley is getting to be so much fun. His personality is really starting to show through. He is no longer just a little blob that lies there and cries. He is just rolling around, talking, squealing with excitement (his new thing is screaming on the top of his lungs), laughing when he is being tickled, smiling at his mom and dad, responding to his name. It's truly amazing seeing him grow. It's weird to look at this little guy and see him fluctuate between looking like his momma and looking like his dad. But right now, he is truly looking like his dad!
Some things Rawley is doing at his 6 month mark:
- He likes to talk...a lot! He will sit and have a conversation with you, but it kind of goes a bit like "blah, blah blah, blah, blah blah blah". You say the same thing back and he mimics it, it's awesome! He has the funniest expressions while having his little conversation
- He has recently started to sort of reach his arms up towards us when you try to get him out of his exersaucer. Which by the way he still loves his exersaucer.
- He still loves his Sophie the Giraffe....loves it!
- He likes to play "where's Rawley?". Has giggle fits every time.
- He loves when momma sings to him. His favorites are currently Itsy Bitsy Spider and Twinkle Twinkle Little Star.
- As you can tell from the previous posts, he has really started to dig into solid food. We have whipped up so far at his 6 month birthday: zucchini, green beans, avocado, pears (could really do without pears), butternut squash and we gave him bananas this morning and barfed it all up. Gagged and choked the whole time. Maybe he didn't like the consistency? I will try it again in a few weeks.
- He loves when daddy and mommy read him stories at bedtime together. He laughs like crazy and is just beside himself with excitement. His current favorite book is Goodnight Hawaii.
- He is sleeping strictly in his crib now. That's right folks...for all naps and for night time! That's HUGE! I can finally put away the swing and have a more functional room. Doesn't mean he is sleeping through the night quite yet...that still needs to be worked on.
- He is trying to push himself up now and sticking his butt in the air. Maybe he will start sitting up soon?
- Speaking of sitting up, he was doing this while at Aunt Megan's house for like 2 minutes! I don't think he realized he was doing this, but fell over as soon as he realized. He can't sit 100% unassisted yet, but he is getting much better.
Here is Rawl sitting while playing with his toys, he is such a ham!
- He just figured out that he can sit up the entire time he is in the bathtub now. He sat up the entire bath time last night and played with the octopus temperature thing (the thing that checks if the water is too hot or too cold...obviously) and just splashed the night away.
- We have phased out some of his clothes. He is now wearing 3-6 month pants/shorts...finally (although they are still a bit big but the length is perfect), 9 month sleepers/onsies and size 1 shoes. He is a long skinny boy with big feet. Our little boy is growing fast :(
- His eyes are still blue! A crystal clear blue.
- His hair is brown with a little hint of a red tint and it's growing in finally. Momma can finally get a little bit of hair in the form of a mohawk.
- At his 6 month well-check he did a great job! Took those shots in stride and had a fantastic day following it. He weighed in at 15 lb 6 oz (12th percentile), his head is at 16.75 inches (26th percentile) and 27.25 inches for length (77th percentile). We have a long, small headed, skinny boy on our hands! He is still a little guy, but the doctor seems to think nothing is wrong with it and that he is doing great. We are upping the dosage of his Zantac so hopefully we can start feeding him more at his feedings. We can start feeding him solids 3 times a day now so hopefully we will see some major growth in the up coming month.
I can't believe he has been here for half a year already! What they say is true, the days are long but the years are short.
