oh, my sweet rawley! it's hard to believe that this sweet and sensitive boy is already three...THREE! {more like three and four months since this mamma is having a hard time keeping up with blogging and picture taking}
rawley is a very sweet and sensitive boy. always curious, yet very cautious. stubborn, but like mamma he seems to be a rule follower. like any boy, he is full of such energy and can go a million miles a minute all.day.long, but my favorite party of the day with this guy is bed time when when he snuggles up and wants mamma to read one of his favorite books from the Pete the Cat serious, Mat Man or anything from the Llama Llama series. He is still watching Yo Gabba Gabba {lord help me}, but he is starting to actually find new interest with Thomas the Train! I love that he is finally venturing into something new. Playing with trains has become a new love for this guy and it also includes rolling cars around and anything of that nature. Nothing makes me smile more than finding a car or train in my purse or on my nightstand after a long and chaotic day :0)
we are NOWHERE near potty training around these parts. he has no interest whatsoever to do anything on the potty. we've tried, but it just results in a bunch of crying and resistance so we've backed off until he can somewhat have a better attention span of taking time for the potty. nap time has gone to the waist side over here which makes me sad. we've been trying to at least support "quite time" in his room for about an hour and a half to give both mamma and rawley some down time and to regroup. rawley doesn't really like this idea and 9 times out of 10 will destroy his room or all his books in the process, but we're working on it ;0) his eating habits really haven't changed other than drinking milk has become a less favorite, but he LOVES eating his vegetables then his fruit, then the main course. we've really lucked out in the food department with him because he's been a pretty easy eater. some days he will eat more than the next, but don't we all?
his relationship with his brother is still a work in progress. at times he can be very spontaneous and will just randomly go up to him and push or hit him. i keep telling him that one day little brother is going to pass him up in size and he should watch out, but i know that means nothing to him at this point ;0) i will have to say though, he has finally become more accepting of him and has come to realize that this little guy is here to stay. some days are so heartwarming when i catch them playing AND sharing toys in their play room, but within seconds that can change with pushing, screaming, hitting and so on. i suppose that will be a constant for a while as they grow older and become competitive with each other, but my hope like any mamma is that they become the best of friends and have a close relationship forever.
the most obvious and huge obstacle going on right now is rawley's speech/development delay. rawley still isn't talking much and when he does it's one word here and there. putting sentences together is still not happening. he recently ended his time with the early intervention program with the state when he turned three and has qualified for developmental preschool at our nearby elementary school. there he will be in a normal school environment four days a week in the afternoons and will receive his speech therapy services with the school. it's been hard as a mamma to have her child attend a "special education class", but he truly needs this help right now and i'm so thankful that the state offers these amazing FREE services to help my boy succeed for the future. he has ended his preschool days at NVCA and will be starting his new preschool here shortly {more updates on that later). he will remain in this program with the same class setting/teacher until 1. he tests out {which i honestly don't see that happening} or 2. when he starts kindergarten and will possibly still receive speech services there as well. i can only hope that he responds to this program. i hate seeing my sweet boy struggle with learning and not being able to communicate and socialize like a typical three year old. it makes my heart hurt that he struggles with this, but i'm confident he is going to be in the right place to get all the help he needs and succeed!
my big THREE year old! i love every ounce of this handsome and sweet little guy and i'm excited to see how much he will grow and learn in the coming year. so many exciting things coming his way!
