rawley is 22 months.

2.27.2013

twenty two months, just two more months until rawley is TWO.  TWO!  eek!  and i would like to make note that i am SUPER late with this post.  rawley will be twenty three months in like a week :(  better late than never i suppose.

not much really has changed in the life of the rawl-dawg since last month.  nothing new to say this month other than "hi".  my child is so stubborn.  it's frustrating that he isn't talking yet to be honest, i'm not going to lie.  i try every day repeating words, using our flash cards...everything and he just tunes us out.  he understands everything you ask him to do or ask him to go get something and he gets it, but no regular words other than the occasional "hi" "bye" "mamma" "dad" and the infamous "gabba gabba"...that's it.  it's hard not to get worried that something is wrong with him, i truly hope there isn't.  i'm dreading going to his two year appointment because i know they are going to throw speech therapy at me and it makes me sad to think it's coming to this point.  not that anything is wrong with speech therapy, but it makes me think that i failed him and his mom not helping him more when he needed it.  i don't now.  everyone says he will come around in his own time and i'm sure he will, but it would be nice if he just surprised me with some good conversation.

enough negative about my sweet rawley, there is still so much more positive to say about his progression in the twenty second month.  this kid LOVES to read his books.  you can always find him sitting and reading a book, dragging a book to us to read to him or sitting down next to his brother and reading him a story. it's so cute.  he loves to look at himself in the mirror and laugh and dance and pull up his shirt to poke his belly button.  he will stand there and babble to himself forever if you let him and crack himself up, it's awesome to see!  speaking of dancing, he will stand up in his booster at the dinner table and start dancing when he is done eating.  nevermind saying "all done" when you can just dance.  and also speaking of eating, he has been a quite a picky eater this month.  when he used to love blueberries, he now hates them.  when he used to love macaroni and cheese, he now hates it...along with chicken nuggets.  what child doesn't like mac & cheese and chicken nuggets....mine.  they all end up on the floor anyway, that is always a battle within itself too.  ugh, the joys of toddler hood.

his bottom incisors are trying to come through.  they still have a way to go, but you can see that they are going to come in soon.  it makes for a cranky rawley, but who can blame him?  i think it may be affecting his night time sleeping patterns as he is sometimes waking up crying in the middle of the night AND wanting to wake up before 6am.  although i am up already with dawson, that is way too early to start the day when his normal routine would be starting around 7 am.  he has fought a couple naps this month, but his day time sleeping is pretty much normal so i can't really complain.  he is still a tiny little dude and wearing size 4 diapers along with 12-18 month pants, 18-24 month shirts and still in size 5 shoes.

even though our days can sometimes be challenging or an outright battle, he is still so damn cute and his funny little personality is shining through more and more every day.  i swear every day he is a funnier little dude and surprises me with something new.  i love it!
