rawley is 4 months.

8.30.2011

July and August have been such a whirlwind.  Not only have we moved back to Arizona, but Rawley has been changing and growing at lightening speed!  He is now 4 months old...no longer a newborn, but an INFANT!  He doesn't even look like a newborn anymore, it makes mommy sad.

Some things Rawley is doing at this point:
  • He is doing stellar at tummy time!  He loves it and will stay on his tummy for about 15 - 30 minutes at a time.

  • He is starting to rollover, but only when he is doing tummy time.  It's more of a falling over type of deal, but it's the first step.  He arches his back and rolls sideways while being on his tummy.  He should be rolling over any day now!

  • He is starting to sit up in his Bumbo chair like a big boy.  It's pretty funny as he looks like a mini man while sitting in it.

  • He is loving his Sophie toy!

  • Speaking of loving on his Sophie so much, I think he is starting teething.  He is drooling like mad and chews on everything.  I feel bad because I know it's making him feel extra fussy than he already is, but that is just part of growing up I suppose :(
  • He coos all the time.  It sort of sounds like a raspy old man sound, it's so cute.
  • He is giggling like crazy!  His tickle spots are under his neck, his inner thighs, feet and on his cheeks.  It's so cute when he is so happy

  • His eyes are still blue!!  I'm crossing my fingers for a brown hair blue eyed handsome prince.  If they stay blue, he will be just like sissy which is weird since daddy has hazel eyes.
  • He is starting to scoot while in his crib.  When I go get him in the morning he is horizontal in his crib, he is a man on the move now!
  • Unfortunately, we have started rice cereal this month as his weight hasn't progressed like it should be at this point.  I didn't want to give him rice cereal at all and just go straight to solids in a couple months, but it doesn't look like it's going to happen.  The doctor seems to think he has a bit of reflux which is what I have been thinking for some time now as he doesn't finish his bottle and fusses while he eats.  At this point he should be eating about 6 oz and he will eat maybe 3-4.5 oz per feeding.  The doctor has prescribed him some Zantec and to start rice cereal so hopefully that will help his reflux symptoms and start putting on more weight.  We are still going to wait closer to 6 months to start solids and give him some time to get used to eating with rice cereal while he gains the weight.  And for the record...Rawley took to rice cereal perfectly!  The taste probably is nothing big, but he ate it like a pro.  He loved it so much that he didn't want to finish his bottle after the first time he ate it.  That isn't good so I need to figure out a way to have him eat his bottle first then have him finish his rice cereal.

  • Rawley seems to be adjusting to living in Arizona now.  He hates the obnoxious heat still, but it's beginning to be more tolerable for him.  We do a lot of swimming and he seems to love it!  He will wade around in his little pool float and just splash for about an hour.  After he is done swimming for that long, he is knocked out!

  • At his 4 month checkup (with his new pediatrician by the way), he weighed in at 13 lbs 3oz and is 25 in long!  This puts him in the 7th percentile for weight and 40th percentile for height.  His head has grown too, it measures in at 16.25 inches which is in the 40th percentile!  He used to be a long skinny boy with a small head, it seems we are going the opposite direction now.
Big sister Kaylie came to visit in August and Rawley just adores her!

So while taking his 4 month pictures this time, he smiled in every single one of them :)

This month we are working on our new house to get ready to move in by next month.  We are doing a lot of work before we move in so all we have to do is just...move in.  We are working on painting, installing window coverings and unpacking before the big move thanks to Auntie Megan and Uncle Shaw for being so generous in letting us  live with them during this process.  It has made things so much easier for this huge transition.  Our goal is to be in our new house starting Labor Day weekend!
